The grand prize will be $5,000 cash. The second prize will be a karaoke prize package
including a karaoke player and over $5,000 worth of karaoke music. A third prize will also
be awarded, the cash amount will depend on the contribution from contest locations, but
will include Budweiser merchandise; grill, chairs, etc.
The qualifying rounds of the contest will run 10 weeks, January 5th through March 21st at
each bar location. Each week, two singers will qualify to advance.
The semi-finals will be held on the 11th week at each location. March 16th through March
22nd. One singer from each location will advance to the finals.
During the 12th week there will be five wildcard contests that will allow contestants an
additional opportunity to advance directly to the finals. That week there will be one contest
per night, March 23rd through the 27th. Two winners will advance at each wildcard contest.
The venues for these wildcard contests will be by random draw. The wildcard contest will
not be held on the regular karaoke night at any location and will be in addition to its regular
karaoke night.
The finals will be held on Sunday, March 29th, all prizes will be awarded at that time.
The location for the finals will be named later.
Contest Rules
1. Contestants must be 21 years of age or older.
2. This contest is limited to solo vocal entertainers, no duets or multiple singers.
3. Contestants must perform alone, no back-up dancers or singers.
4. Weekly competition is on a first come, first served basis. You can only register to enter
the competition at the club on the night of the contest. Registration will not begin until the
KJ arrives.
5. Before contestants compete, they must pay the $3 entry fee and accept and sign the
‘Terms of Competition’ and a waiver. The $3 must be collected prior to participating in any
qualifying round of this competition. The $3 entry fee is not required to participate in the
semi-finals or finals.
6. There is a maximum of 20 contestants per night of preliminary competition.
7. No one may register to compete once the competition has started
8.There is no minimum amount of contestants. If there are only one or two contestants
there will be no competition, they will advance to the semi-finals.
9. In the 10 weeks of preliminary contests, each participant will be given a scorecard and
will judge the performance of the other contestants. The scores will be tallied as follows:
10. Each singer is graded on a scale from 1 to 5 in two categories: stage presence and
vocal ability.
11. The KJ collects the score cards from all of the contestants.
12. The highest score and the lowest score for each performer is removed.
13. The remaining cards are added up, the two performers with the highest scores will be
named semi-finalists and return to this location for the scheduled semi-finals. If the number
of semi-finalists falls short at this location, in some cases the third or third and fourth place
contestant may move on to the semi-finals.
14. All contestants/judges must be present for all performances. If they must leave the room
for any reason, they can ask for a short intermission.
15. A contestant can advance to the semi-finals at one location only. Once they are named
semi-finalists they may not participate in the contest again until the semi-finals.
16. The participants that did not advance are eligible to enter again at any participating
location.
17. At the semi-finals, the contestants will sing one song. Scores will be tallied, and the top
five will sing a second song. A panel of judges made up of owners and staff from other
contest locations will judge the semi-finals. The crowd will be asked to applaud for their
favorite performer. The performer with the most applause will get an additional 5 points
added to their score. The single highest scoring contestant will advance to the scheduled
finals.
In the UN-likely event that the panel of independent judges are not present at the
start of the semi-finals, the contest will be judged as in #5.
18. If a contest location drops out of the competition before the date of their semi-finals all
semi-finalists will compete at alternate locations.
19. The use of noise makers or air horns by the audience will not be tolerated.
20. Entertainers may provide their own music. Music must be on compact disc (CD or CDG
format). We are not responsible for customer discs that do not play properly.
21. Discs must be marked with the performer’s name. ASAP Entertainment, Inc. and
SingChicago.com are not responsible for discs that are not picked up after a performance.
22. Each singer will sing one song of his or her choice. If two singers have selected the
same song, whoever signed up first gets to sing that song. No song can be performed more
than once an evening during the contest. Advancing contestants SHOULD NOT perform
the same song in all rounds.
23. The actual cash prizes awarded are received by ASAP Entertainment, Inc. from contest
locations. Failure of any locations to contribute their share will determine the actual
amount of the third place prize.
24. One finalist from each location will advance to the finals to be held at a location to be
named later. The singers will sign in no later than one hour before the official start time.
When all singers are signed in, they will draw numbers. These numbers will decide the
order that they will perform, and the order that they will pick their song for performance. A
song can only be chosen once, they should make sure that they a few alternate songs in
mind.
25. At the finals, the panel of judges will be made up entirely of karaoke industry leaders
and representatives from karaoke labels from across the country. This panel of
independent judges will narrow the field down to six. These six singers will perform once
more. The crowd will be asked to applaud for their favorite performer. The performer with
the most applause will get an additional 5 points added to their score. This and the scores
from the judges will decide the three winners.
26. In the event a finalist cannot attend either the semi-finals or the finals, his or her slot will
be forfeited.
27. All decisions of the judges are final.
28. Current and former employees of ASAP Entertainment, Inc., and SingChicago.com, are
not eligible to compete.
29. Employees of contest locations are eligible to compete, but cannot qualify at their place
of employment.
30. In the event of a tie, contestants involved will perform an additional song.
31. Payments of taxes on all cash prizes are the responsibility of the winners.
32. There is no entry fee for the semi-finals and the finals contests; however, contestants
are required to bring at least five guests to both the semi-finals and the finals.
33. Contest rules and procedures may be subject to revisions as deemed necessary to
insure fairness of the competition. Notice of alterations will be posted immediately on www.

34. Contestants agree to let SingChicago.com and ASAP Entertainment, Inc. use the
contestant’s image and given information for promotional purposes, at no charge.
